Jorge Newbery Airport was awarded the Routes Americas prize in the category "Airports with 4 to 20 million passengers", establishing itself as the best in America in 2024. The award coincided with a new passenger record at the metropolitan airport during January. This distinction comes after an extensive evaluation in which it competed with other major airports on the continent.
Aeropuertos Argentina, the operator of the airport, highlighted that in the last five years they have carried out an extensive investment plan for the modernization and refunctionalization of Jorge Newbery Airport. This includes improvements to the passenger terminal, expansion of services to enhance the user experience, and measures to increase the operability and safety of the airport. The total investment in works during this period exceeded 1 billion dollars.
One of the latest stages of the modernization plan was the inauguration of the national passenger boarding hall, which tripled in size and required an investment of 11.5 million dollars. In addition, the airport recorded an increase in aircraft movements and in the number of international passengers during January.
Jorge Newbery Airport maintains a daily average of 315 flights with 40,700 passengers, leading among the airports in the country. Currently, the second stage of the modernization plan is underway, which is expected to be completed in the coming months. Additionally, new access roads have been opened that allow for more efficient vehicle circulation.
The airport has implemented a series of services aligned with passenger needs, such as specialized assistance, parking, free WiFi, VIP lounges, and a diverse culinary offering. Marcelo Buján, general manager of Aeroparque, emphasized that this recognition reaffirms their commitment to providing excellent services to their users and positioning themselves among the best airports on the continent.
